Restroom, Elevator, Classroom, Lab/Sim, and Shared Spaces
Using Restrooms
Use of restrooms should be limited to a maximum of 2 people at a time to ensure at least 6 feet distance in all directions between individuals. Wash your hands thoroughly afterward to reduce the potential transmission of the virus. Use a drying towel to open the door and discard in the waste receptacle placed outside in the hallway.
Using Elevators
No more than one person may enter an elevator at a time, so please use the stairs whenever possible. If you are using the elevator, wear your mask or face covering and avoid touching the elevator buttons with your exposed hand/fingers, if possible. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer upon departing the elevator.
Classrooms, Labs, and Sim
Classrooms have the areas marked where students may sit. For most of our classrooms with long learning tables, this means one person per table, or distanced 6 feet in between people. In classroom settings, individuals are required to wear masks in addition to remaining 6 feet from other individuals. Masks are required to leave the classroom to use the restroom facilities, to enter and exit the building, and in other parts of the building where there is a shared area (i.e. vending machines and microwaves). For Platt College class purposes, no more than 15 people may be in a classroom at a time, depending on classroom space. For smaller classrooms (defined by square footage), no more than 10 people may be in the classroom at a time.
Labs and simulation experiences are areas where students move, making social distancing more of a challenge. The number of individuals in simulation is no more than 2 people per bay at a time.
Shared Areas (Lunch Room, Library, Student Services and Hallways)
Lunch Room(s): Students and employees must refrain from dining together in shared areas to limit the amount of face-to-face contact. Students are required to eat in larger spaces, such as classrooms where social distancing can occur. Likewise, employees are required to eat in their offices or in an area where social distancing may occur. When using shared surfaces and equipment, such as the refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, please use provided wipes after handle usages on common, shared surfaces.
Library: Student study in the library is temporarily closed. If students need to check out a book, we ask that no more than 3 students plus an employee be in the library at one time exercising social distancing.
The copier machine will be temporarily moved to the front of the library when you enter on the left. The copier needs to be wiped down by students in between usage, and only 1 student will be allowed at the copier machine at one time. We ask that students try to use electronic documents to avoid waiting in line to use the copier machine.
