Policy purpose
Mandatory health screening requirements serve purpose in protecting patients in the health care setting from infectious and transmissible diseases. Faculty that are going into a direct care clinical setting to monitor or observe students during a clinical experience need to meet facility requirements for mandatory health screenings and compliance.
CPR Policy
All nursing faculty, simulation staff, Simulation Laboratory Coordinator, and the Clinical Placement Coordinator will maintain current certification in BLS-CPR. The nursing faculty, simulation staff, Simulation Laboratory Coordinator, and the Clinical Placement Coordinator may select the individual provider for CPR training.
Full and Part-Time Didactic Nursing Faculty
Full-time and part-time nursing didactic faculty that are not assigned to clinical oversight do not need to submit annual health screening verification. Mandatory health screenings are not required for Capstone oversight as faculty visiting sites meet with health care staff in general meeting areas outside of direct patient contact areas.
Full-time and part-time nursing faculty that do clinical oversight must meet the general requirements detailed in this policy for health screenings and immunizations. Select facilities may have additional requirements that need to be met for the specific facility. The Clinical Coordinator will notify nursing faculty if additional testing or screening is required.
Non-nursing faculty are not required to submit health screening verifications. Simulation staff do not go to clinical settings and do not have to submit health screening verifications.
clinical nursing faculty
Clinical nursing faculty must comply with the required immunization and antibody/antigen protocol of the School of Nursing. Individual facilities may also require additional immunizations and health screening protocols in addition to those required by Platt. Clinical faculty will be notified by the Clinical Coordinator for specific facility requirements.

COvid vaccinations and booster requirements
COVID vaccinations and Booster requirements are delineated in the COVID policies on the website. It is anticipated that these requirements could change over time and with changing public health guidelines. Nursing faculty who supervise students in the clinical setting must meet facility specific guidelines for COVID vaccinations and booster(s). Requests for medical exemptions will need to be submitted to the Dean and Director of Clinicals and Simulation for individual review and determination. The clinical facility has additional discretion in granting an individual request.
required immunizations
The protocol for required immunizations and antigen/antibody protocols for clinical faculty at Platt are as follows:
