Entrance Loan Counseling
Entrance Loan Counseling is a one-time requirement for all first time borrowers at Platt College. The goal of this counseling is to help you understand what it means to take out a federal student loan. The Entrance Loan Counseling can be completed online in 15 to 20 minutes from any secure internet connection. You must complete Entrance Loan Counseling before the College can make the first disbursement of your federal loan.
During Entrance Loan Counseling, you will learn about the following:
- What a Direct Loan is and how the loan process works
- Managing your education expenses
- Other financial resources to consider to help pay for your education
- Your rights and responsibilities as a borrower
To begin your Federal Direct Stafford Entrance Counseling session online, go to the U.S. Department of Education's Direct Loan Servicing Web site and click the "Sign In" button at the top of the screen. You will need your Personal Identification Number from your FAFSA to log onto this site. If you do not recall the PIN that was assigned to you when you completed the FAFSA, you can request it again at www.pin.ed.gov.
Returning students: If we are able to determine that a student has had a prior Federal Stafford Loan, we may not require the completion of the Federal Direct Loan Entrance Counseling.
